Compressed air is one of the most important utilities in many industries. It is also one of the biggest costs with respect to the initial investment, maintenance and energy consumption.
The aim of this project is to evaluate the benefits that it is possible to achieve with the control and monitoring equipment for the production and treatment of compressed air.
This dissertation covers both technical and marketing side of Atlas Copco’s centralized control system with the focus on the new controller. The technical part will include a complete SWOT analysis and a review of what Atlas Copco’s competitors are currently offering. The marketing part will focus on the market segmentation and market opportunities that may exist, deriving from legislation, regulation, etc.. Moreover, it proposes to evaluate a real practical example of the exact savings achieved in one compressor room with the new controller installed. We will therefore visit a live customer site working with this installation. The dissertation will be mainly composed by market and product survey, validated on existing Atlas Copco monitoring and controlling systems.
